A breaking news producer turned storyteller turned author, Kimberlee now teaches memoir writing, creative writing and humor writing for continuing education programs such as Mediabistro, Gotham Writers' Workshop, UCLA Extension Writers' Program, The Open Center and New York Writers Workshop.
In addition to teaching live and online writing workshops, Kimberlee works privately with clients nationwide, and counsels eighth grade girls for an afterschool program called Liberty LEADS at Bankstreet College of Education, where she won teacher of the year award in 2008.
Telling her story inspired Kimberlee to help others tell theirs.
It all started back in 2002 when Kimberlee first put her name in the hat at a NY Moth StorySLAM, got picked and won. She won two more StorySLAMs after that and competed in three Moth GrandSLAMs altogether. It was at the Moth that she honed her voice and compiled material for her one-woman show, which ended up playing to sold-out houses at the New York International Fringe Festival in August '05.
From there, she adapted her show into a memoir, The Devil, The Lovers & Me: My Life In Tarot, which was published in hardcover by Dutton in August '07, then in paperback by NAL in August '08 and is now available on the Kindle and Nook.
She is currently working on a spec TV pilot and screenplay with her husband, Ethan T. Berlin, and doing "soft time" on her next book.
